The Meditech microVENT® is the most advanced hand held pre-hospital emergency resuscitator / ventilator in use in the world today. Designed specifically to meet the needs of EMS specialists the microVENT® offers unique benefits to its users. Practical and robust the microVENT® resuscitation / ventilation system is the smallest and lightest available. microVENT® is a pneumatically powered time/volume cycled resuscitator / ventilator with negligible drive gas consumption providing the added benefit of manual triggering for the use during external cardiac massage, or automatic cycling for longer term ventilation for patient transport. There is no need for a separate control module as all the controls are integrated into the handset eliminating the need for the operator to look away from the patient when switching between manual and automatic resuscitation/ventilation or making adjustments to tidal volume / frequency. The microVENT s unique design provides total fingertip control, improved patient care and a superior seal between mask and patient in a single compact handset. The microVENT® is effective as well as being an all round smaller, lighter and easier resuscitation / ventilator designed specifically to improve patient care in the pre-hospital environment. microVENT® European, Classic, Responder - Three different products, the Classic is recommended for healthcare providers, the European and Responder are suitable for all users.
The latest Resuscitation Guidelines 2000 have highlighted the advantages of resuscitating with lower volumes and flow rates. These help to limit airway pressures reducing the chances of gastric insuflation, vomitting and subsequent aspiration and pneumonia. With 100% oxygen resuscitation we help ensure oxygenation at these smaller tidal volumes.
microVENT® European is an automatic time cycled resuscitator calibrated so the maximum Adult setting is 600ml tidal volume, in line with the Resuscitation Guidelines 2000 for the unprotected airway and 100% oxygen. Users are therefore prevented from selecting larger tidal volumes that increase risk of aspiration to the patient / casualty. The volumes are infinitely adjustable from 600ml at 12 breaths per minute to a lower setting of 200ml at 25 breaths per minute. microVENT® can also be manually operated enabling the user to time ventilations as required, such as when used in CPR.
microVENT® Classic is an automatic time cycled resuscitator calibrated so the maximum setting is 1200ml at 12 breaths per minute and this volume is infinitely adjustable down to 300ml at 24 breaths per minute at the child setting. This is suitable to users who have the skills to protect the airway (such as intubation) and may require larger ventilation volumes for clinical reasons. microVENT® can also be manually operated enabling the user to time ventilations as required, such as when used in CPR.
microVENT® Responder is a controlled flow resuscitation device with options of 40 litre per minute (lpm) and 20 lpm. When used with the unprotected airway (normal use with a face mask) setting the flow control to 20 litres per minute enables microVENT® Responder to deliver the correct volumes of 600ml in the correct time of 1.5 to 2 seconds. Squeezing the trigger initiates flow of 100% oxygen from the resuscitator. microVENT® Responder is designed to enable the user to hold the resuscitation mask and control the airway with a two handed grip, operating the trigger with one finger. The microVENT® Responder (like all microVENT® resuscitators) features a pressure relief valve that prevents dangerous airway pressures being achieved. An audible warning sounds when the relief valve is operating. The use of the two handed grip enables the user to control the airway and give a good seal to the face mask. This grip is considered easier to perform than the one handed grip needed when operating a bag-valve-mask.
microVENT® European Adult/Child Advanced - Resuscitation for adults and children. microVENT® gives you the control that you need where you need it, at the patient interface.
microVENT® European Adult/Child Advanced Handset offers the following outstanding features: All the controls for the microVENT® are in the handset, so you can observe and care for your patient as you control the ventilation they require. microVENT® drive gas consumption is negligible, so you can be confident that the oxygen you use is contributing to patient care, not to driving your ventilator. The microVENT® is small and light, so it can easily be carried in a compact resuscitation kit. microVENT® is a time / volume cycled resuscitator - the type recommended for emergency use. The microVENT® can be set to automatic - and the prescribed tidal volume and frequency will be applied, consistently and tirelessly. When required microVENT® can be manually operated using the finger tip trigger, enabling hyperventilation or timing with external cardiac massage in CPR. microVENT® Adult/Child units have a easy to use slide control on the handset. Settings can be prescribed for children from 20kgs to adult. microVENT® European is an automatic time cycled resuscitator calibrated so the maximum Adult setting is 600ml tidal volume, in line with the Resuscitation Guidelines 2000 for the unprotected airway and 100% oxygen. Users who are not medically trained are therefore prevented from selecting larger tidal volumes that increase risk of aspiration to the patient / casualty. The volumes are infinitely adjustable from 600ml at 12 breaths per minute to a lower setting of 200ml at 25 breaths per minute. The microVENT® Advanced products are fitted with an Anti-Inhalation Valve which function with the patient respiratory assist for safety in toxic atmospheres. microVENT® patient respiratory assist feature offers more respiratory support than a simple demand valve system, but still offers more comfort for a spontaneously breathing patient. A patients respiratory effort will trigger the MicroVenT s inflations allowing spontaneous breathing at the pre-prescribed volume helping ensure adequate gas exchange even with a patient whose respiratory efforts are of inadequate volume. Supply includes:
microVENT® handset as described, fitted with 2m length white oxygen supply hose and British Standard terminal to BS 5682:1998.
